L.A.U.S.D. Beyond the Bell Youth Development Program (YDP) and Youth Services Program (YS)

The Beyond the Bell (BTB) program provides two after school options at Chandler.  The Youth Development Program for students grades 1-5 and Youth Services Program for student (2-5).  Both programs are provided free-of-charge to participants.

Youth Services is a permissive program where participants arrive and leave at their own discretion.  The program operates from the time of school dismissal until the posted closing time to better meet the recreational and supervision needs of children, as well as those of working parents. Additionally, expanded program hours may be provided on minimum and shortened days to provide safe and supervised activities. Parents must sign an agreement with the Youth Services Program prior to their child being eligible to participate.

The Youth Development Program requires that students be signed in and out.  Each rotation is led by a District trained staff member who is known as coach. Rotations operate on a ratio of 20:1. The Site Coordinator at every school interacts with parents on a daily basis and often times serves as that personal bridge from the school day to the parent. YDP operates from school dismissal until six Monday through Friday. YDP features the following three major components on a daily basis: Academic Enrichment, Homework Support, Recreation, and Read-A-Loud.  Snack is provided.
